How to create a Story on Facebook

Goal: Create interactive stories

Ideal Outcome: Grow your engagement rate and your reach by communicating with your audience

Pre-requisites or requirements: Have a Facebook account and Canva Pro

Why this is important: Creating engaging stories helps to grow your account organically by growing your reach and engagement rate

Where this is done: Facebook and Canva

When this is done: Everytime you want to post a new story

Who does this: You, your Social Media Manager, or Community Manager.

How to Post Story on Facebook Business Page :

  • Environement set-up

Before you start to create beautiful stories on Canva or on Instagram, be sure to know what is your niche or your client's niche. You also have to ask yourself questions, what do you want to ask your audience/what does the client wants to his/her audience? Is this question more of a poll or an opened question? What sticker can you use to make it more interactive?

  1. Open Canva

  2. Click on the search bar

  1. Look for "Story", you will find Instagram and Facebook story. Both work for Instagram (and facebook). It's the same format. (1080 pixels wide by 1920 pixels tall)

  2. Select a template or create a blank one

    1. It will open a new window with your project. Once again, you can choose a template or start to create your own.

  1. Time to design your story!
  • To change the color of a text or an element, simply click on it and a menu will appear.

  • You can do a lot of things with the text. You can change the color, the effect, you can make it bold, italic and add effects.

  • When you're all done with your design, download it!

Upload your design on Facebook with Facebook Business suite :

  1. Open Facebook Business Suite

  2. Click on create a story

  1. Click on upload media

  2. When your media is uploaded, you can add sticker, text and crop it. Unfortunatly, we don't have the question sticker on Facebook Business suite. So if you want to post an Interactive Story, you have to use your phone.

  1. When you're all done, click on share story! You can schedule it to post it later or post it now.

Upload your design on Facebook with your phone :

  1. Open Facebook

  1. Go on your personnal page

  2. Click on add to story
  3. You can create a text story or add a picture (Like on Instagram)

  4. You can add music, text, draw and add stickers

  1. Click on share to story!

  2. For a page, it's the same thing. You have to click on pages first.

  3. Choose a page on wich you want to post a story

  4. Click on the little "+" next to the profile picture

  1. Choose "add to story"

  1. Repeat the last steps (4 to 6)

You're all done! You posted a story successfully.
