Goal: Make your Instagram or your client's Instagram look alive, good and professionnal. Make your audience know where to look for specific story types.

Why this is important: Your audience needs to know where to look when they want to watch specific stories.

When this is done: Every time we have a new client that is in need of a Social Media management and content creation.
Who does this: You, your Social Media Manager, or Community Manager.
- Environnement set up :
Before you start to create your template on Canva, you have to do research on the client. What does he sells? What is his niche? Be sure you truly understand his personnality and vocation before creating your highlights. Did you really understand the product/niche?
If our client is a podcaster, he won't have the same highlights as a influencer or a yoga teacher.
- Open Canva
- Click on the search bar
- Search for Highlights and click on the template "Instagram Story Highlight Cover"
- When you will get to the template, you'll find a lot of designs. We don't recommend using these design because they have been used a lot on Instagram. You can use them to create your own tho!
- Look at the highlights of your client. What are the names of the highlights, the stories in the highlights? If the client doesn't already have highlights, look up his story archive to see what could be his potential one. Use the brand's color to create your highlights. You can find them in the proposition.
- When you have all the information you need, you can create your new and improved highlights.
- First, choose the template of your choice on Canva or Create yours.
- If you choose a template, change the name of the highlights for the title of the original highlight you're modifying or the title you found.
- You can also add an Element, on this one, I added a crystal. You just have to click on elements and look for the image you want to use on the search bar.
- To change the color of a text or an element, simply click on it and a menu will appear.
- You can do a lot of things with the text. You can change the color, the effect, you can make it bold, italic and add effects.
- When you're all done with your design, download it!
- Unfortunately, you can't change the highlight image on a computer. You have to use your phone to change it! If you want to keep the quality of your image to the top, put it in a Google Drive and download it on your cell phone afterwards.
- After all of that, you can now change the highlights. It's pretty easy! First, you have to open the Instagram app on your phone. If your client doesn't already have highlights, you have to create a new one.
- First, go in the settings on Instagram and click on Archive
- Click on your settings in the archive, then click on create highlights
- Choose the stories you want in your highlight
- Edit the title and the cover. You got it! You created a beautiful highlight.
- If your client already have highlights, here is how you can change the highlight cover and title.
- First, click on the highlight you want to change :
- When the menu appears, click on edit highlight.
- This is where you can make a little clean-up of the already existing highlight. If there are stories that don't make any sense, you can get rid of them. After that, click on edit cover.
- Choose your image and make it symmetrical.
- You're done! Click on done and your highlights are now perfect and professionnal.
- You're done! You're now ready to make beautiful highlights and Instagram pages!
