He highlights the value of understanding and addressing the other party's emotional standpoint in both business and personal negotiations. By doing so, people can make better deals and foster long-term relationships. Voss emphasizes the importance of addressing people's fears and practicing tactical empathy through labeling. This approach involves identifying and acknowledging the emotions involved in the negotiation. By listening carefully and discerning the underlying motivations and concerns, negotiators can guide discussions more effectively and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Being nice to others can often lead to surprising results, proving the power of empathy and understanding in negotiations. 0:00 What drives people? 1:18 Negotiation is NOT about logic 2:14 1. Most organizations communicate from the outside in, but all inspired leaders/organizations think, act and communicate from the inside out. Make sure to reverse the order of the information from the outside in to inside out

Most Organizations (Outside in) = We make great computers, they are beautifully designed, simple to use and user friendly. Wanna buy one? These organizations fail and think it’s because of a lack of money problem, the wrong people and a bad market conditions. We have a product that pauses live TV, skips commercials, rewinds live tv and memorize your viewing habits without you even asking.

Inspired Organizations (Inside out) = Everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo, we believe in thinking differently (WHY), The way we challenge the status quo is by making our products beautifully designed, simple to use and user friendly (How), we just happen to make great computers (What). Wanna buy one? If you’re the kind of person who likes to have control over every aspect of your life, we have a product for you, it pauses live tv, skips commercial, memorize your viewing habits, etc... We believe that cars are an extension of our personality.

WHAT = The product, the result, we say what we do, here’s what we have, here’s our new car, all products, What you do simply serves as the proof of what you believe.

HOW = How you deliver your product, differentiated value proposition, unique selling point (USP), How we are different, how we are better, Your process,

WHY = What is the purpose of all this? what’s your cause, what’s your belief? Why does your organization exist? Why do the company really exist? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? Why should anyone care?

💡
When you talk about your why, you create a reality distortion field like Steve Jobs. Everything suddenly becomes possible. People who believe what you believe will be inspired by your cause, will make it their own and will show up for themselves instead of showing up for you. People don’t buy what we do, people buy why we do it. Find something bigger than yourself Who do we want to be in the future? Why, Meaning of Life, Trouve ton pourquoi. Meaning In Life (Find Your Mission, Your Purpose)(HOW & WHAT)
